On July 27, 2021, a seminar on the exchange of experience of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on environmental protection and water quality of the Syrdarya River basin was held in Dushanbe, the Republic of Tajikistan, within the framework of the Fourth Central Asian Conference on Climate Change (CACIC).
The main purpose of the seminar is to involve the countries of the upper Syrdarya River basin in joint work on monitoring the water quality of the Syrdarya River.
The Seminar was attended by representatives and experts of the environmental and hydrometeorological services of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
The participants spoke about the results of cooperation between the republics on environmental protection and water quality in the Syrdarya River basin.
The Kazakh side presented the trend of changes in the flow volume of the Syrdarya River for the period from 2000-2021, as well as the forecast of changes in the flow for the future until 2040.
The experts noted the importance of joint monitoring, including with the involvement of the upper Syrdarya River countries-Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
As a result of the Seminar, the proposal to create a Regional database for monitoring the Syrdarya River for further accumulation, analysis of data and forecasting the qualitative state of the Syrdarya River was supported.
