July 2021 broke all records for the heat

In July, two intense heat waves led to new temperature records, multi-year highs were blocked. In the first decade of the month in Kazakhstan, the daily air temperature reached +35+47°C. So, for example, on July 07, the highest air temperature of +46.5°C was recorded at the weather station of Kyzylorda (Kyzylorda region), thereby the record of 1975 was broken, when on July 20 the air temperature reached +46.0°C. Another heat wave occurred in the first half of the third decade, when the air temperature rose to +34+44°C throughout Kazakhstan, so in Turkestan on July 25 it was +44.1°C, this indicator exceeded the previous record of this day in 2017 (+42.5°C).
Also, on some days of July, the records of minimum air temperatures were updated, which were recorded in the middle of the second decade and at the end of the month in the north, north-west and in the center of Kazakhstan. For example, at the weather station Ruzayevka (North Kazakhstan region) on the night of July 29, the air temperature was +5.3°C, as a result, the previous record of this night was updated, which was +7.7°C in 2020.
In addition, in July, in addition to temperature records, adverse weather conditions were observed, such as strong wind, squall, hail and thunderstorms, heavy rain. During the month, a gusty wind of 15-28 m/s was often observed in the republic, and in some areas it reached the criteria of natural hydrometeorological phenomena (OHS) of 30-37 m / s at the meteorological station Dostyk, Esik, Ushtobe (Almaty region). On July 07-08, a very heavy rain of 54.7 mm was observed at the Aktobe meteorological station (Aktobe region) (with a norm of 30 mm for the month), hail with a diameter of 20 mm fell at the Ushtobe meteorological station (Almaty region), which reached the criteria of the OHS in size. At the Akzhol meteorological station (Pavlodar region) a squall with a wind speed of 36 m/s, lasting 6 minutes, was recorded.
In the capital, Nur-Sultan, in 2021, the highest air temperature was recorded on July 4, the thermometer columns reached +37.8°C, which exceeded the previous record of this day in 1997, when the air temperature was +37.5°C.
Precipitation for the month fell 44.3 mm (89% of the norm), with a norm for the month of 50 mm.
