On October 4, 2021, the 32nd session of the Interstate Council for Hydrometeorology of the Commonwealth of Independent States (MSG CIS) was held. This meeting is an annual event and was planned in an off-line format in Yerevan, Armenia. Due to covid restrictions, the participants decided to hold it online.
The 32nd session of the CIS MSG was attended by delegations from the Republics of Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, the Russian Federation, as well as representatives of the World Meteorological Organization and the CIS Executive Committee.
RSE "Kazhydromet" presented its achievements in the work for 2020-2021. During this period, due to the purchase of additional stations for monitoring atmospheric air and surface waters, 100% monitoring coverage of all regions of the country has been achieved. Since January 2021, ozone has been determined in all regional centers. The application for farmers "Agrodata" has been implemented and the number of agrometorological observation points has been increased. Since the beginning of 2020, 42 new hydrological posts have been put into operation, opened as part of the implementation of the Roadmap "A set of measures to prevent and eliminate flood threats". Four Doppler meteorological radars have been put into operation in the cities of Taldykorgan, Torgai, Shalkar, Zhezkazgan, designed to provide ultra-accurate forecasts for short periods of time from three hours to a day.
The participants of the session also highly appreciated the experience of Kazhydromet in working with independent environmental organizations and eco-activists in terms of cooperation, exchange of experience and building joint productive work in environmental issues and highlighting problems in this area.
Following the results of the 32nd session of the CIS MSG, a number of decisions were adopted and protocols were signed. The 33rd session in 2022 will be held in the Republic of Kazakhstan on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of RSE "Kazhydromet".
