Conference on Climate Change in the Caspian Sea Region

On October 27-28, 2021, an online scientific conference on climate change in the Caspian Sea region will start, organized under the auspices of the Coordinating Committee for Hydrometeorology and Monitoring of Pollution of the Caspian Sea (CASPCOM) and the Provisional Secretariat of the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea (Tehran Convention).
The purpose of the conference is to discuss the latest data and conclusions related to climate change and its consequences for the Caspian Sea region. The following issues will be discussed during the meeting: identification of key gaps in knowledge and research on climate change; promotion of universal awareness of stakeholders about climate change in the Caspian Sea region; projected impacts of climate change on the coastal economy, population and natural resources of the Caspian Sea and its basin.
The main areas of research for this conference are four topics:
- Studies of the climate of the Caspian Sea region and its changes in the XXI century;
- Changes in the Caspian Sea level: analysis, modeling and long-term forecasts;
- The impact of climate change on the ecosystem and biodiversity of the Caspian Sea;
- Adaptation to climate change in the Caspian Sea region.
