In the south and south-east of the country, in areas where winter grain crops are grown, the air temperature in the past decade was 1-3°C below the long-term average, and 5°C lower in mountainous and foothill areas. The amount of precipitation mainly fell within and below the norm from 0 to 18 mm, in mountainous and foothill areas it reached 11-32 mm, which slightly exceeded the average annual values. In general, such meteorological conditions favored the passage of the first phase of winter wheat hardening and in some areas caused the termination of the vegetation of winter grain crops.
At the observed sites in Zhambyl and Turkestan regions, the condition of winter wheat everywhere was excellent and good. The phase of plant development "germination of grain" - "shoots", in some areas around the stations Kordai and Merke "3rd leaf". Sowing and harrowing of winter wheat in the past decade was carried out in the vicinity of the Tolebi station of the Shussky district of the Zhambyl region and the Kazygurt station of the Kazygurt district of the Turkestan region.
According to the results of the route survey in the Bayterek district of the West Kazakhstan region, winter wheat crops were in the "3rd leaf" phase, the assessment of the condition of the crops was satisfactory, the height of the plants was 7-9 cm, the infestation of the crops was insignificant, weeds were rare, in the Terekta district winter rye was in the "tillering" phase, the condition of the crops was satisfactory, the height of the plants was 12 cm, weed infestation was not observed.
