Published 10.12.2021 Since 2022, Kazhydromet RSE has been restoring the mudflow forecasting service in its structure with the involvement of experienced specialists. The Research Center of the National Hydrometeorological Service will organize the Management of Mudflow Research and Mudflow Forecasting to prevent mudflow hazards caused by intense prolonged liquid precipitation. Scientific work will be carried out in order to improve the methods of forecasting mudflows, increase their timeliness and justifiability, develop methods for calculating the characteristics of mudflows.
The main task of the specialists of this unit is to serve public administration bodies, organizations responsible for the safety of the population from the effects of natural hazards, as well as to notify the population and the media about the threat of mudslides in mountainous areas of the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
RSE "Kazhydromet" will, during the mudflow-prone period (from May to September), prepare consultations, ultra-short-term forecasts, storm warnings about mudflow danger.
