The museum of RSE "Kazhydromet", on the eve of the centennial anniversary of the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan, was solemnly opened by the Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serikkali Brekeshev.
The entire history of weather observations is collected in the exposition of the new museum, including historical instruments, certificates of international recognition of our meteorological stations, photographs and documents of previous years. 100 years ago, in January 1922, the Kazakhstan Meteorological Bureau (Kazmetburo) was established in Orenburg. Although the first meteorological observations on the territory of Kazakhstan began to be carried out from the middle of the nineteenth century and were registered at the Kazalinsk station in 1848, Semipalatinsk in 1854, Irgiz and Kyzyl-Orda stations in 1856, Alma-Ata and Uralsk in 1859. By the beginning of the twentieth century, 28 stations were functioning. To date, the ground observation network has 347 meteorological stations, which 78% covers the territory of Kazakhstan with meteorological monitoring.
The opening of the museum is timed to coincide with a number of events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of RSE "Kazhydromet", which we will talk about on our social pages.
