In the second decade of January in the south and south-east of the republic in the areas of cultivation of winter crops, the temperature background was higher than normal by 6...10C, in the west by 2 ...3 C. Precipitation fell mostly more and about normal, which improves the formation of moisture reserves in the soil.
In the vicinity of Shymkent stations, against the background of positive air temperatures, the resumption of winter wheat vegetation is observed on the second and fourth days of the decade. The development phase is "3rd leaf", the condition of the plants is satisfactory.
Stable snow cover is observed in fields with winter crops in the Almaty region (7-11 cm). In the Zhambyl and Turkestan regions, snow is mostly absent, which, with a decrease in air temperature, can lead to the freezing of winter crops.
In the West Kazakhstan region, in the areas of winter grain crops cultivation, a stable snow cover (24-29 cm) remains, which has a protective effect on plants with uniform distribution on the soil surface, therefore the low temperature on the soil surface (minus 16...18C) was not so dangerous for overwintering.
The minimum soil temperature at the depth of the tillering node of winter wheat in the south of the country ranged from 0C to minus 2C and in the southeast from 0C to minus 7C (Kyrgyzsay station).
