In January 2022, in most of Kazakhstan, the average air temperature was 1-7 degrees above the climatic norm, and the actual amount of precipitation was about and more than the monthly norm by 1.3-7 times in most of the country. In the first and second decades of the month, with the removal of warm air masses from the Black and Mediterranean seas, there was a significant increase in air temperature throughout the republic. In the northern half of the day, the air warmed up to -2+10 ° C (on January 16 at the Ridder weather station in the East Kazakhstan region, the air warmed up to +9.7 ° C), in the southern half of the country it warmed up to +6+16 ° C (on January 4 at the Uzunagash weather station in the Almaty region - +15.6 °C). During this period, daily records of maximum air temperature were blocked at a number of weather stations of the republic, on some days the air temperature was 10-20 ° higher than the average daily norm.
For most of the month, as in December, the weather was affected by cyclones, which are associated with precipitation, gusty winds of 15-28 m / s, and in some areas of the north and south of the country there was a hurricane wind up to 30-34 m / s (January 8 at the weather station Burabai -34 m / s). In the north and north-west of the republic, such a wind was accompanied by heavy snowfalls and blizzards with reduced visibility up to 200-500 meters, as well as fogs and icy phenomena. In the south of Kazakhstan, with the release of southern cyclones, heavy precipitation (15-49 mm) took place, on January 19 at the Achisai weather station (Turkestan region) snowfall of up to 24 mm was noted. The most sedimentary period was the middle of the month, heavy precipitation took place almost throughout the country, in some areas strong, for example, 13 mm fell during the day at the Karauyl weather station (East Kazakhstan region) (with a norm of 9 mm per month), at the Karatau weather station (Zhambyl region) - 26 mm (with a norm of 26 mm per month), at the Achisai weather station (Turkestan region) – 49 mm (with a norm of 75 mm per month).
Only in the third decade of January, the synoptic situation changed somewhat, a spur of an extensive anticyclone began to influence most of the territory of Kazakhstan, which led to the cessation of precipitation and a significant decrease in air temperature. In the northern half of the republic, at night, the thermometer columns dropped to -24-35 ° C (on January 30 at the Ulken Naryn weather station in the East Kazakhstan region it was -34.7 °C). The southern half of the country continued to be under the influence of cyclonic activity, in this regard, there was no significant decrease in air temperature. It is also worth noting that for most of the month a prolonged heat wave was observed in the southern regions of the republic, which lasted 20 days or more.
The lowest temperature of the air in the capital was recorded on January 24 and made -24,1°C, the absolute minimum on this day is
-42,7°C, which was recorded in 1969, and the highest temperature was observed on 15 January 2022 and was +0.2°C, it is a record of the absolute maximum for this day for the entire observation period. Precipitation for the month fell 26 mm (162% of the norm), with a norm for the month of 16 mm.
