Published 23.02.2022 In the second decade of February in the south, south-east and west of the republic in the areas of cultivation of winter crops, the temperature background was higher than normal by 1...6C, in places in the foothill areas of the Almaty region below the norm by 1...3C, precipitation fell mostly less than normal, heavy precipitation was observed in mountainous and foothill areas of the Almaty region.
The absence of snow cover in the fields in Turkestan and Zhambyl regions may affect the passage of winter crops during severe frosts. The height of the snow cover in the Almaty region reached up to 9-18 cm, thanks to this, the overwintering of winter crops takes place without complications in these areas.
In the observed area in the vicinity of the Oshakty agropost and Shymkent stations of the Turkestan region, against the background of positive air temperatures, the resumption of vegetation of winter wheat and alfalfa grasses is noted.
The minimum soil temperature at the tillering node (3cm) of winter wheat in the Almaty region mainly ranged from 0C to minus 3C, around the Kegen stations minus 12C, in the Zhambyl region minus 4C and in the Turkestan region from 0C to minus 1C.
