Published 18.05.2022 During the month, with the frequent removal of warm air masses from the regions of Iran and Central Asia, a high background of daytime air temperatures was observed in most of Kazakhstan. Air temperature anomalies were 1-5° higher than the average monthly norm. In the north-western half of the country, the air temperature rose to +20+28 °C, in the south-eastern half to +29+33 °C. Such high air temperature values for the southern regions were not record values, since, in the entire history of meteorological observations, the maximum air temperature was above +40 °C. However, some meteorological stations in the northern and eastern regions of the country recorded record values of air temperature.
For example, on April 30, the highest air temperature was recorded at the Pavlodar meteorological station and amounted to +29.1 °C, the last time for this day the highest air temperature reached +21.6 °C in 2018, at the Ust-Kamenogorsk meteorological station the absolute maximum was +30.6 ° C, the record of 2019 was updated when the thermometer rose to the level of +25.8 °C, thus this April the long-term highs were blocked.
In April, there were also waves of cold. So in the third decade of the month, with the influx of cold air masses from the regions of Scandinavia, at night the air temperature in the northern regions dropped to -4-9 ° C, in the southern regions to 0, +4 ° C, while records of minimum night temperatures were not recorded.
Precipitation in most of the country fell below the climatic norm.
At the Dostyk automatic meteorological station (Almaty region), gusty winds were often observed during the month, which reached the criteria of a spontaneous meteorological phenomenon – 31-39 m/s.
