Preliminary assessment of flood-prone regions

From January 23 to January 26, 2023, according to the joint order on the interaction of services in predicting spring floods between the Ministry of Emergency Situations and RSE "Kazhydromet", a joint survey of the catchments of river basins in ravines and gullies in the North Kazakhstan region is being conducted.
As of today, a survey has been conducted in the Yesilsky and Musrepov districts. The water supply in the snow cover in ravines and gullies in the Yelsky district reaches 48.4 mm, in Musrepov up to 187 mm, which in some places is 47% more than 2022.
As of January 20, 2023, the indicators of moisture reserves in the snow cover on the flat territory in the basin of the Yesil River in the North Kazakhstan region are mainly 15% higher than the average annual values.
Analyzing the amount of water reserves in the snow and autumn soil moisture, a preliminary assessment of flood-prone regions is given. The North Kazakhstan region belongs to the category of high risk.
