Weekly hydrological forecast for the period from March 11 to 17, 2023

The area of the territory of Kazakhstan covered with snow calculated by RSE "Kazhydromet" for the period from March 1 to March 9, 2023, according to NASA satellite images, decreased from 72% to 53%.

The volume of moisture reserves and the depth of soil freezing in the river basins of the lowland territories of the Republic of Kazakhstan are given in Appendix 2.

According to the weekly synoptic forecast for March 11-17, 2023, the unstable nature of the weather in most of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be due to the alternation of cyclones and anticyclones, precipitation (rain, snow) is predicted, rain is expected in the southern half of the country, only on some days a short–term cessation of precipitation is expected.

Heavy precipitation (rain, snow) is expected on March 12, at night on March 13 in the East Kazakhstan region, on March 12 in the Abai region, in the afternoon on March 15 in the North Kazakhstan, Akmola regions.

In this connection, the formation of slope runoff is expected in Almaty, Aktobe, Atyrau, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Zhetysu and West Kazakhstan regions.
