From March 13 to March 16, 2023, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) together with the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) United Arab Emirates, organized a Regional Conference (RECO) at the Regional Association II (RAII) (Asia), in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
From Kazakhstan, the conference was attended by Director General of RSE "Kazhydromet" Danara Alimbayeva, Director of the hydrometeorological center Marina Schmidt and Director of the Hydrology Department Adel Akhmetov.
The purpose of the regional conference is to hold a forum among national meteorological and hydrological services (NMHSs) to strengthen regional cooperation and expand partnerships, as well as the implementation of WMO resolutions and decisions.
At the meeting, Kazhydromet made a proposal to develop a unified system for collecting radar data (for example, OPERA, METEORAD), where all meteorological radars of Central Asian countries will be integrated. This unified collection system will allow you to receive data online, which is of great importance for early warning and the adoption of preventive measures.
Kazakhstan has been a regional center for rapidly developing CARFFGS floods in Central Asian countries since 2012. Today, the center, with the support of WMO, is working successfully. The next stage of the project is to increase the exchange data network for more accurate forecasting.
