For most of the month, with the western and south-western transfer of warm air masses from the regions of Iran and the Mediterranean Sea, the temperature background in Kazakhstan exceeded the norm by 3-10 °. With such high anomalies, the records of the maximum air temperature of previous years were reached and blocked. In the entire history of meteorological observations, November of this year has become one of the extremely warm. The heat peak was observed in the period of November 17-18.
So, for example, on November 17: in Taraz, the maximum air temperature was +26.1 °C, the 1999 record was broken (+18.6°C), in Shymkent +27.3 °C, the last record was observed in 2001 (+26.5 °C), in Kyzylorda the air temperature was +22.0°C, surpassing the record of 1999 (+13.3 °C), in Karaganda +16.4°C, the record of 2001 was exceeded (+13.5°C).
In Almaty, on November 18, the air warmed up to +23.6 °C, the last time the absolute maximum was +19.3°C in 2001.
During the month, frequent precipitation of varying intensity and nature (rain, snow) was observed on the territory of Kazakhstan, in addition, fogs, icy phenomena, increased wind and a grass-roots blizzard were observed in most of the country. So, on November 18, in Akmola, Pavlodar, Karaganda and Zhambyl regions, the wind increased to the criteria of OHS (a spontaneous meteorological phenomenon), at the automatic meteorological station (AMS) Arnasai - 32 m/s (Akmola region), at the weather station (MS) Yerementau - 34 m/s (Akmola region), at MS Taraz - 32 m/s (Zhambyl region), on AMS Topar - 32 m/s (Karaganda region), on AMS Akzhol - 32 m/s (Pavlodar region), MS Shcherbakty - 34 m/s (Pavlodar region), on AMS Akku 35 m/s (Pavlodar region), at the AMC CES - 35 m/s (Pavlodar region), at MS Maikoba -37 m/s (Pavlodar region).
In Astana, the norm of the average monthly air temperature for November is -5.2 °. The actual temperature of the month according to observations was 2.2°, which is +7.4° higher than normal (a RECORD!).
The highest air temperature was observed on the afternoon of November 8 and amounted to +11.9°C, thereby breaking the record of 1990 when the thermometer rose to +2.4°C. Precipitation fell 37 mm, with a monthly norm of 29 mm, which was 127% of the norm. On November 18, in Astana, in the afternoon, the wind increased in Saryarkinsky district (MS Nur-Sultan) to 23 m/s, in Yesilsky district (at AMS Baiterek) to 29 m/s, in Almaty district (AMS Nur Zhol) to 31 m/s.
