In the second decade of December, in the south and south-east of the republic, in the areas of winter crops cultivation, the weather was much colder than usual, the average daily air temperature was 4-8 °C below normal, precipitation fell more than the norm of 15-36 mm.
At the end of the decade, snow cover in the fields was observed almost everywhere. Due to the thaw (2-4 days), the snow height decreased slightly and ranged from 5 to 17 cm.

At the end of the decade, the soil in the south-east froze to a depth of 20 cm, in the south of the republic there was no soil freezing.
The minimum soil temperature at the depth of the tillering node of winter crops (3 cm) in most fields dropped to minus 7 °C. The vegetation of winter grain crops was not resumed. The agrometeorological conditions for the start of winterization of winter crops were mostly satisfactory.
In the second decade of December, the weather was significantly colder throughout the pasture livestock area than in the previous decade, the values of the air temperature anomaly were negative to minus 9 °C.
At the end of the decade, pastures in most regions were moderately grazed, pastures in the Almaty region (Aidarly station), in the West Kazakhstan region (Taipak station) and in the Karaganda region (Bektauata station) were severely grazed.
Frozen sod and wet sod were observed on a larger area of pasture livestock farming in some pastures in Atyrau, Zhetysu, and Mangystau regions.
