Preliminary assessment of flood-prone areas of the West Kazakhstan region

On January 29-30, specialists of the branch of RSE "Kazhydromet" in the West Kazakhstan region, together with the Department of Emergency Situations of the West Kazakhstan Region, conducted snow surveys along 20 additional routes in the basins of the Chizha-2, Derkul, Olenty, Shiderty and Shyngyrlau rivers.
In river basins, there is an ice crust of up to 40 mm on the soil surface, the average snow height is 10-18 cm, and water reserves in the snow are 25-65 mm.
To date, the process of snow accumulation continues.
