The area of the territory of Kazakhstan covered with snow is 66%.
According to the synoptic forecast, in the period from March 16 to March 22, 2024, unstable weather is expected in most of the country with precipitation in the form of rain and snow, icy phenomena, fog, increased wind, in the northern, central and eastern regions with a blizzard.
Heavy precipitation (rain, snow) is forecast on March 16-17, 20-21 in the southwest (Mangystau region), March 18 in the west (West Kazakhstan, Atyrau regions), March 19 in the northwest of Kazakhstan (Kostanay region), March 20 in the east of the country (East Kazakhstan region and Abai region), March 21 – heavy snow. On March 19-22, heavy precipitation, mainly rain, is expected in the south and south-east of the country (Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Zhambyl, Almaty and Zhetisu regions). On March 20-21, heavy snow is expected in the north of the country (North Kazakhstan, Akmola, Pavlodar).
In most of the country, a gradual increase in air temperature is expected in the first half of the week, and in the second half of the week, with the invasion of a cold anticyclone, the air temperature will drop.
In case of sudden changes in hydrological and meteorological conditions, Kazhydromet will notify storm warnings in advance about the risks of flood threats.
