Since April 8, 2024, due to high flood risks, the hydrological and related departments of the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan have been switched to round-the-clock operation.
Observers, forecasters and hydrologists on the entire Kazhydromet ground observation network worked on a 24/7 schedule on a regular basis, now they were joined by the management, forecasting and information services of the enterprise.
The processing and analysis of information coming from all 15 branches located in all regions of Kazakhstan is now conducted around the clock. Today, Atyrau, Aktobe, Kostanay, West Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan, Akmola, East Kazakhstan regions and Abai region are located in the flood-prone zone. Here, observations of water bodies have been switched to a rapid mode, and the processing of actual data is ongoing. All ready-made information is sent to state and local authorities around the clock.
On April 8 alone, 9 storm warnings and 9 hydrological storm warnings were issued.
