On July 16, 2024, the 7th Tashkent Lectures on Water Security were held within the framework of the Green Central Asia Program. The topic of the lecture is Water resources in Central Asia: integrating scientific knowledge to support policy dialogue and adaptation to climate change.
The program of meetings is aimed at improving political dialogue and regional cooperation in Central Asia by integrating scientific knowledge in the field of climate and water resources.
The Tashkent Lectures on Water Security (TWSL) serve as a platform for discussing scientific discoveries related to climate change and water resources in Central Asia, and support policy dialogue and adaptation to climate change.
At the moment, 6 series of TWSL have been held in a mixed format. The next and 7th TWSL is planned to be organized at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Berlin together with five Central Embassies of Asian countries. The event was co-organized by the Embassies of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the Green Central Asia program of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the implementing partner institution.
Director General of the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan Danara Alimbayeva noted in her speech that these lectures provide a unique opportunity for Kazhydromet to share scientific knowledge and experience related to climate change and water resources management in Central Asia.
