Kazhydromet has released a forecast of soil moisture reserves before spring sowing.

An increased temperature background is predicted in April, contributing to an increase in the evaporation of moisture from the soil surface, which may subsequently cause rapid drying of the upper arable soil layer and in some cases lead to a shortage of soil moisture in the layer.

However, in general, the conditions prevailing in the autumn-winter period will be favorable for grain-growing regions. In Akmola, North Kazakhstan and Turkestan regions, soils with optimal moisture conditions will prevail, in the rest of the grain-growing area conditions will vary, but satisfactory to optimal conditions are expected.

The forecast of soil moisture reserves at the beginning of spring field work is based on data from the hydrometeorological observation network, taking into account the autumn soil moisture, accumulated precipitation over the winter period, the depth of freezing and thawing of the soil and the temperature regime. More information about the forecast can be found on the website of RSE Kazhydromet and in the appendix. www.agrodata.kz .

The final forecast of soil moisture reserves by the beginning of spring field work will be developed approximately on April 25.
