Hydrologists of the central office of RSE Kazhydromet have started snow removal work in the Yesil River basin to the Astana reservoir as part of snow cover monitoring and assessment of the water management situation.
The snow measuring route includes 17 control points located in the territory of the Arshalinsky district of the Akmola region and the Osakarovsky district of the Karaganda region. The surveyed points cover the tributaries of the Astana reservoir — the Yesil and Moyildy rivers.
Snow measuring routes are laid out over various terrain elements, including field sections and girder relief forms, which allows for a more complete and objective assessment of the distribution of snow cover and water reserves in the snow.
The data obtained during the snow survey will be used by Kazhydromet specialists to analyze the current hydrological situation and forecast spring floods.
