RSE Kazhydromet presented the "Annual Monitoring bulletin of the mudflow hazard of rain genesis in the mountainous territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023". This issue of the bulletin contains information on meteorological conditions and anomalies of the current climate in the mountains during the mudflow-prone period, as well as information on mudflow events in 2023.
When describing climatic conditions in mudslide-prone areas, climatic norms for the period 1991-2020 recommended by the World Meteorological Organization were used.
Information on the conditions of mudflow formation serves as a scientific basis for assessing the impact of climate change on the conditions of mudflow formation, the development of adaptation measures and sustainable development of the territory of Kazakhstan exposed to mudflow danger.
The bulletin was prepared using data from the Republican Hydrometeorological Fund of RSE Kazhydromet.
