From April 20 to 24, Kazhydromet jointly with the World Meteorological Organization conducted a regional training for specialists of the hydrometeorological services of Central Asia.
The trainer was Serikbai Nurgalym, Hydrological Adviser to the Permanent Representative of the WMO, Director of the Hydrology Department of the Kazhydromet State Enterprise.   He did not just tell the theory, but shared his practical experience — how to work with the CARFFGS system, how to properly assess the risks of rapidly developing floods and what to look for when preparing storm warnings.
The main idea of the training is to make forecasts more accurate and teach specialists to navigate difficult situations faster. After all, it directly depends on how timely the services will be able to warn the population and reduce possible damage.
The training was attended by specialists from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and those who work with forecasts and issue warnings every day.
Such meetings are not just an exchange of experience, but a real opportunity to build a common approach to forecasting and make the work of all services more efficient.
