Today is the second day of the regional training on risk management of rapidly developing floods, organized by Kazhydromet in cooperation with the World Meteorological Organization

The training is conducted for specialists from the hydrometeorological services of Central Asian countries within the framework of the Rapid Flood Risk Assessment System (CARFFGS), aimed at improving emergency preparedness and reducing flood damage.

The trainer is
Serikbai Nurgalym, Hydrological Adviser to the Permanent Representative of the WMO, Director of the Hydrology Department of the Kazhydromet State Enterprise. During the classes, participants deepen their practical skills in working with the CARFFGS system, including analyzing meteorological data, applying hydrological models, and interpreting forecast information.

Special attention is paid to the issues of operational risk assessment, improvement of forecasting methods and development of coordinated approaches to issuing storm warnings. 

Practical sessions allow specialists to share their experiences and improve the effectiveness of cooperation at the regional level.
