The Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organization, Professor Celeste Saulo, stressed the importance of strengthening early warning systems in Central Asia and expanding regional cooperation between national hydrometeorological services. In his speech during the discussion of the "Early Warnings for All" initiative, it was noted that the countries of the region are demonstrating progress in the development of observational infrastructure, data exchange and the introduction of modern approaches to forecasting natural hazards. Special importance is attached to the signed Joint Statement of the Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan). The joint statement consolidates the joint efforts of countries within the framework of the global initiative and defines the priorities of joint work: • modernization of observation networks; • expansion of open data exchange; • improvement of forecasting methods; • introduction of artificial intelligence technologies; • building scientific potential. WMO confirms its readiness to support the Central Asian countries in strengthening the capacity of National Hydrometeorological Services and in developing modern early warning systems aimed at protecting the population, infrastructure and economy of the region.
