Igor Vasilyevich Seversky, an outstanding scientist, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor, founder of the Kazakhstan Glaciological School, celebrates his 90th birthday today.
Igor Vasilyevich devoted many decades of his life to science. His research on glaciers, snow cover, mountain hydrology, and water resources has greatly contributed to the development of science in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
One of Igor Vasilyevich's important achievements was the creation of the Central Asian Regional Glaciological Center under the auspices of UNESCO. Thanks to his work and knowledge, a strong school of glaciologists has been formed in Kazakhstan, and his students continue to develop this field today.
