Every year, before the formation of snow cover, specialists of RSE "Kazhydromet" conduct a route survey of fields to assess the conditions of plant moisture supply and conditions of moisture accumulation in the meter layer of soil.
According to the results of surveys conducted in September-November 2020, the highest soil humidity in the range of 69-140 mm was observed in the Northern and Central parts of Kazakhstan, as well as in mountainous and foothill areas in the East, South and South-East of the country. In some places, moisture reserves reached values of 150-320 mm. In the rest of the Republic, the level of moisture reserves in the meter-long soil layer was in the range of up to 68 mm.
In General, in the West of Kazakhstan, in the Pavlodar and Zhambyl regions, moisture reserves are unsatisfactory (below the norm), and only in places there were satisfactory moisture reserves. In the Akmola, North Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Karaganda, East Kazakhstan, Almaty and Turkestan regions, moisture reserves in the meter layer of soil were uneven and were estimated from insufficient (below normal) to optimal (above normal).
