Grain moisture is a very important indicator of its quality.
On the agrometeorological network, this grain moisture is determined at the mass onset of the waxy or full ripeness phases when determining the structure of the crop.
To do this, in the field on the sites allocated for determining the density of the standing crop, 5 or 10 stems (plants) are selected in a row in four repetitions, the grain is released and the moisture content is determined from the resulting number of grains.
The mass fraction of moisture or moisture content of the grain can be determined by the thermostatic-weight method by weighing the sample (sample weight) before drying and after drying in the thermostat.
On the network of RSE "Kazhydromet "for this purpose, a more rapid method of determination is used with the help of a modern tool of the grain moisture meter"Fauna-M". This very easy-to-use device allows you to determine the humidity in a matter of seconds and has a very small error.
The device easily fits in the palm of your hand and runs on regular batteries. After turning on the device, use a special button to select the name of the crop (grain) and press the "Measurement" button. Then, in a special compartment for grain, the sample is filled to the top with a scoop, and the button is released, in just 5 seconds the device will give the result - the name of the grain and humidity. For the accuracy of the result, 3 measurements are made and the average value is determined from them.
The device is graded for grain crops (wheat, rye, barley, oats, millet, buckwheat, peas, corn, rice) and oilseed crops (rapeseed, sunflower). In total, "Fauna-M" can be graded for 17 names of agricultural crops. The device is regularly checked and, if necessary, graded.
