The meteorological station of Jambeyty in the West Kazakhstan region was organized by the Migration Department on July 1, 1897. From the moment of its foundation until today, the name of the station has not changed. In the more than 120-year history of the station, observations were interrupted only twice. From 1902 to 1904 and in 1912. The station was moved twice in November 1932 and 1972. According to the current classification, the station operates under the Category II program.
The village of Jambeyty, where the station of the same name is located, is located in the desert-steppe zone of the Caspian lowland, in the south of the General Syrt. The terrain here is flat, the Ulanta River flows a kilometer away. The ground water level is 3-4 meters. The depth of the ground water was determined in the area of the weather station. In 1932, the weather station was moved to the center of the village of Jambeyty, on an open flat place. And in 1972, in the area of the airport.
Over the past 50 years, the village has grown greatly and now, the weather site is again located in the center of the village. There are passing roads and pedestrian paths around the weather site. The distance to the post office is 1.5 km.
The Jambeita meteorological station has standard parameters, location and meets the requirements of the Manual. The surface of the weather site is covered with steppe grass, which is typical for this area.
This year, the Jambeity Meteorological Station celebrated its 123-year-old birthday!
