Published 10.04.2021 RSE "Kazhydromet" has released the next weekly hydrological forecast for the period from 10 to 16 April 2021. The area of the territory of Kazakhstan covered with snow, calculated by RSE "Kazhydromet" for the period from 2 to 9 April 2021, according to NASA satellite images, decreased from 40 % to 22%.
According to ground observation points, there is no snow in the river basins of the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions, as well as on some rivers of the Karaganda and Kostanay regions.
According to the weekly synoptic forecast, at the beginning of the period in the north, in the center and in the east of the republic with high-altitude cyclones, precipitation will pass, in the form of rain and snow, wind strengthening, then, with the establishment of an area of high pressure, precipitation is expected to stop in most of Kazakhstan and a gradual increase in air temperature. Precipitation is expected throughout the entire period in the south and south-east of the country, with atmospheric frontal sections, and on some days heavy precipitation is expected in some places, in connection with which, intensive snowmelt is expected in the flat part of the territory of the republic and the formation of slope runoff in these regions.
