The surface area of the Caspian Sea exceeds the area of such countries as Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Poland and the Republic of Belarus. Its surface level is about 28 meters below sea level in the conventional sense of the word.
RSE "Kazhydromet" makes a weekly forecast of the Caspian Sea level. In the northern part of the Caspian Sea, the level fluctuation is expected to be around minus 28.28 m, with a rise to a maximum of minus 28.05 m and a decline to a minimum of minus 28.78 m.

In the middle part of the Caspian Sea, sea level fluctuation is expected around minus 28.37 m with a rise to a maximum of minus 28.10 m and a decline to a minimum of minus 28.76 m.
