Advisory weather forecast for May 2021

In May, the transition to summer atmospheric processes is carried out. Precipitation from April to May increases in the northern half of the Republic of Kazakhstan and in the mountainous, foothill areas of the south and south-east of the country. In May, there may be a return of cold weather after prolonged heat. According to long-term data, in the southern regions, frosts already end in the first half of May, and in the northern regions - at the end of the month, but in some years in the southern regions, frosts can be at the end of May, in the northern and eastern regions even in June.
From May 3, with the removal of warm air masses from the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea and the south of the Caspian Sea, mostly low-cloud weather is expected in most of the country and a further increase in the temperature background is predicted:
in most of the republic at night to +10 + 15°C, in the afternoon to +25+30°C;
in the south and south-east of the country, the thermometer will reach +15+20°C at night, +30+38°C during the day.
Only in the western half of Kazakhstan, the North-western cyclone and the associated atmospheric fronts will cause rain with thunderstorms, wind strengthening, and the air temperature is expected to fluctuate during the day from +20 + 28°C to +13+18°C. In the middle of the first decade, as the atmospheric fronts shift from west to east, short-term thunderstorms with gusty winds will pass through the territory of the republic in some places.
At the end of the first decade, with the next invasion of the western anticyclone, a short-term temperature drop of 5-10°C is expected in most of Kazakhstan, and night frosts of up to 3 degrees are again likely in the northern half.
According to the advisory forecast, a wave of cold weather is also expected in the second decade, in the northern half of the country, the air temperature may drop to freezing 5°C, in the afternoon to +10 + 15°C, in the southern half - at night to +3+10°C, in the afternoon +12+20°C.
In the second and third decades of the month, with intense heat waves, summer-like hot weather is expected in the northern regions, during the day the air will warm up to +25 + 33°C, in the southern half - to +30+38°C.
