Soil freezing on April 20, 2026
During the second decade, active thawing of the soil continued, as of April 20, soil freezing persists only in a small area in the northeast and in some areas of the northwest and north of the country.
In the extreme northeast of the Pavlodar region, the topsoil has thawed, but freezing persists at a depth of 92-137 cm; in the Uspensky, Sharbaktinsky and Kashirsky districts, freezing reaches 180-206 cm in places.
Frozen soil remains at a depth of more than 40-110 cm in some localities of the Sandyktau and Tselinograd districts of the Akmola region, Denisovsky, Karasovsky and Fedorovsky districts of the Kostanay region, Osakarovsky district of the Karaganda region, and in the areas of M. N.Zhumabayev and G. N.Musrepov of the North Kazakhstan region.
