Soil freezing

Soil freezing in the 1st decade of November 2025.

As of November 10, 2025, the depth of soil freezing in the southwest of the North Kazakhstan region is from 2 to 7 cm, in the Akmola region it is 6-12 cm, in the west of the region it is 24 cm, in the Pavlodar and Karaganda regions from 1-5 cm to 16-18 cm.

Also, the soil is frozen in a significant part of the Almaty region and the Zhetysu region, in places the freezing reaches 10-15 cm. 

In the east of the country, freezing is noted only in the mountainous part, up to 3 cm in places, and in the east of the Abai region in a small area up to 9 cm.

In the rest of the country, the surface layer of the soil remains unfrozen.

In the same period last year, freezing was observed in the far west and north of the Aktobe region, ranging from 1 cm to 5 cm, in the north and northeast of the country mainly from 2 cm to 8 cm, in the north of the central part (Akmola, north and east of the Karaganda region from 5 cm to 7 cm. In some parts of the north and northeast of the country, the freezing reaches a depth of 13-25 cm.
