Published 05.10.2021 On October 4, 2021, Skakov Amangeldy Amandinovich, one of the prominent scientists of Kazakhstan, a well–known geographer-climatologist, a pioneer of environmental consulting, passed away.
Amangeldy Amandinovich was born on September 17, 1948, in the city of Belovo, Kemerovo region, Russian Federation. He studied and worked in Kazakhstan, combining work with studies and internships abroad.
Skakov received his first meteorologist's degree in 1971 after graduating from the Geographical Faculty of the Kirov Kazakh State University. This was followed by postgraduate studies at the Hydrometeorological Center of the USSR - Moscow, 1976. Nine years later, the Academy of National Economy under the Council of Ministers of the USSR was also passed in Moscow.
By the end of the 1980s, Amangeldy Skakov was a Doctor of Geographical Sciences. He completed studies and internships in the USA and the UK. He specialized in environmental safety, oil spill prevention, international environmental audit, environmental management and monitoring. He had diplomas in the specialty environmental safety.
In the late 80s, he headed the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan. In the last years of Amangeldy's life, Amandinovich headed the Republican Scientific and Production Information Center "Kazecology". He actively participated in the public life of the country on issues of environmental protection and rational use of natural resources.
He has published over 90 scientific papers and monographs, was the chairman of the SAC, a member of the Dissertation Council of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. For his long-term contribution to the training of specialists, he was awarded the academic title of professor.
Skakov A.A. is the author of the first Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Environmental Protection". He actively participated in the formation of the first environmental agency of Kazakhstan - Goskomprirody, was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor, the medal "20 years of Independence of Kazakhstan" and other awards.
