Published 27.10.2021 During the pandemic, the number of tourist companies and individual activists seeking to acquaint Kazakhstanis with the beauties of our country has sharply increased. The development of active tourism in our country increases the demand for hydrometeorological support. The accuracy of forecasts and the advance warning of precipitation and storm warnings generates revenues for entire industries in domestic tourism.
RSE "Kazhydromet" has installed three automatic meteorological stations (AMS) in tourist areas of Kazakhstan: Charyn Canyon (AMS Sharyn), Kolsai Lakes (AMS Kolsai) and Turgen Gorge (AMS Turgen). Previously, these zones were not covered by the ground monitoring network of Kazhydromet, although AMS are located both near settlements and at a distance from large cities in desert, mountain and forest areas.
The choice of these three zones located inside nature reserves is dictated by the need for more accurate weather forecasts for independent travelers and travel companies.
Forecasts of RSE "Kazhydromet" on precipitation, wind, air temperature for a day or three have a high degree of justifiability up to 92%. The placement of AMS in areas of popular tourist routes, where there is a large crowd of people, is dictated by the need to warn visitors about impending adverse meteorological conditions, sudden weather changes and storms.
In the future, we intend to cover other popular tourist routes with monitoring.
