Kazhydromet employees conducted an excursion for Atlas School students to the Nur-Sultan weather station. This is one of the oldest meteorological stations in Kazakhstan, recently MS Nur-Sultan celebrated its 150th anniversary.
During the excursion, the children visited the meteorological site, where most of the instruments are installed (a psychrometric booth with thermometers and hygrometers, instruments for measuring wind speed and direction, a precipitation meter, soil thermometers, weather vanes, etc.), visited the building of the weather station, where observations are processed. After visiting the station, the children visited the Hydrometeorological Center. Kazhydromet specialists demonstrated the entire process from meteorological monitoring to making a weather forecast.
Schoolchildren also got acquainted with the museum of RSE "Kazhydromet" and saw the instruments that meteorologists used in the last century. The Museum of the History of the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan was opened relatively recently, this is one of the first excursions. Historical documents, meteorological instruments and documentary memoirs of honored workers of Kazhydromet are collected here.
