Kazhydromet employees conducted an excursion for students of the capital's gymnasium school No. 47 to the Nur-Sultan weather station. This is one of the oldest meteorological stations in Kazakhstan, which recently celebrated its 150th anniversary. And this year, the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan celebrates its centennial anniversary.
During the tour, the children visited the meteorological site and got acquainted with the devices for monitoring the weather. The children were shown the principle of operation of a psychrometric booth with thermometers and hygrometers, devices for measuring wind speed and direction, a precipitation meter, soil thermometers and a weather vane. Schoolchildren also visited the building of the weather station, where observations are processed. By the way, the building of the weather station is an architectural monument, which was built in 1916 and is still used for its original purpose.
After visiting the station, the children visited the Hydrometeorological Center. Kazhydromet specialists demonstrated the entire process from meteorological monitoring to making a weather forecast. And then we conducted a tour of the museum of RSE "Kazhydromet", where historical documents, meteorological instruments and documentary memoirs of honored workers of the industry are collected.
