Kazhydromet employees conducted an excursion for fifth graders of the international school "Nur-Sultan". During the excursion, the children visited the laboratory of environmental pollution monitoring of RSE "Kazhydromet". The children were shown how atmospheric air and surface water samples are analyzed. The examples demonstrated the detection and concentration of pollutants in the air, as well as the principle of operation of the AirKZ mobile application.
After visiting the laboratory, the children visited the museum of the century-old history of the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan. This year Kazhydromet celebrates 100 years, but observations of the weather on the territory of our country began in the middle of the 19th century, at meteorological stations: Kazalinsk in 1848, Semipalatinsk in 1854, Irgiz and Kyzyl-Orda in 1856, in Alma-Ata and Uralsk - 1859. By the beginning of the 20th century, 28 weather stations were already operating. In January 1922, the meteorological bureau of the Main Physical Observatory at Kirnarkomzeme was established in Orenburg. It is from this event that the history of modern Kazhydromet begins.
Young Kazakhstanis saw historical instruments and their modern analogues, got acquainted with the principle of operation of the ground-based meteorological observation network and the modernized Hydrometeorological Center.
