Weekly hydrological forecast for the period from March 19 to March 25, 2022

The area of the territory of Kazakhstan covered with snow, calculated by RSE "Kazhydromet" according to NASA satellite images, for the period from March 10 to March 17, 2022, increased from 52% to 61%.
Based on the weekly synoptic forecast for March 19-25, 2022, under the influence of the cyclone trough from the regions of Novaya Zemlya in the northwest, north, center and east of the country, unstable weather is expected, snow, blizzard, gusty winds up to 23-28 m/s are predicted, fogs will be observed, March 23 in the east of the republic is expected heavy snow. On March 21-23, precipitation in the form of rain and snow, fogs are expected in the west of Kazakhstan. With the passage of atmospheric fronts in the south-east, precipitation is expected on March 22-25 in the south of the country, mainly in the form of rain, on March 22 in Zhambyl region, on March 22-24 in Almaty region, heavy precipitation (rain, snow) is predicted in mountainous and foothill areas, in connection with which, in the foothill areas of the above regions, the formation of a slope is expected drain.
During the entire period in the south of the East Kazakhstan region, from the middle of the period in the south of the Karaganda region, daytime temperatures will reach positive values of 2-5 degrees Celsius.
The volume of accumulated moisture reserves in the basins of the lowland rivers of Kazakhstan was as follows:
- in the Karaganda, Akmola, Aktobe and West Kazakhstan, Kostanay regions, the average was from 15 to 43%;
On the mountain rivers of East Kazakhstan, Turkestan, Zhambyl and Almaty regions, flood runoff formed on the territory of the country depends on heavy precipitation.
For mountain rivers of East Kazakhstan, Almaty, Zhambyl and Turkestan regions, data on snow reserves will be presented in the first days of April 2022.
