The area of the territory of Kazakhstan covered with snow, calculated by RSE "Kazhydromet" according to NASA satellite images, for the period from March 17 to March 24, 2022, decreased from 60% to 45%.
According to the weekly synoptic weather forecast for April 02-08, 2022, another Atlantic cyclone will begin to shift from west to east again, which will cause precipitation, mainly in the form of rain and wind strengthening, first in the west and north, from the middle of the period in the rest of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Heavy rain is expected on April 4 in the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions, and on April 7 in the East Kazakhstan region. On some days, fogs will be observed at night and in the morning in the northern half of the country. Rain is expected in the southern regions of the country for the entire period with the passage of atmospheric frontal sections, on April 6 in the mountainous and foothill areas of Turkestan region, on April 8 in Almaty region heavy rains are expected, in connection with which, in the foothill areas of East Kazakhstan, Turkestan and Almaty regions, the formation of slope runoff is expected.
With the removal of warm air masses from the regions of Iran throughout Kazakhstan, a "friendly" spring is expected in the first half of the period (rapid warming and sharp melting of snow). An increase in daytime air temperature in the west, center and east of the country to +15 +23 ° C, in the northern half to +10+18 ° C, in the southern regions to +23+28 ° C, night temperatures in the northern half of the country will also rise to plus values of +3+8 ° C. In the middle of the period, the western anticyclone will shift to the rear of the cyclone, with which a short-term decrease in air temperature is expected.
In this connection, in the flat territories of Kazakhstan (Karaganda, Akmola, North Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, Pavlodar regions, the south and south-western part of the East Kazastan region), intense snowmelt, the formation of melt runoff, weakening of ice phenomena and rising water levels on rivers are expected.
The volume of accumulated moisture reserves in the basins of the lowland rivers of Kazakhstan was as follows:
- in Karaganda, Aktobe and West Kazakhstan (with the exception of the Shagan river), Kostanay regions decreased on average from 12% to 18%;
According to long-term observations at weather stations in April, a monthly precipitation rate may fall in a day, which can lead to the occurrence of dangerous natural hydrometeorological phenomena.
