In the first decade of October, moderately warm weather with short-term precipitation was observed in the predominant territory of the grain-growing zone of Kazakhstan. Precipitation within 1-2 days somewhat delayed the completion of harvesting of spring grain crops in some areas in Kostanay, Karaganda and Akmola regions.
Noted frosts up to minus 2...14°C at night in most parts of the country were not dangerous for agricultural crops, but made it difficult to carry out harvesting in the morning.
In the areas of winter wheat cultivation in the south and south-east of the republic, favorable conditions have developed for soil preparation and sowing operations. Winter wheat sowing has started at the observed sites in Almaty (Taldykorgan station) and Zhambyl (Kordai agropost) regions, the quality of field work is good.
The condition of heat-loving crops (corn for grain, sugar beet, soy, cotton) is excellent and good. The harvesting of corn and soybeans has begun, and the first cotton harvest is being carried out in the Ordabasinsky district.
In the observed areas with fruit crops (apple, pear, raspberry), the phase of development "autumn leaf blooming" is observed. The condition of fruit crops is generally good and satisfactory, apple orchards in Zhambyl region (Saudakent station) are assessed as poor.
