Young ecologists visited the weather station

Students of school No. 22 visited the metropolitan meteorological station. Schoolchildren are preparing a project for a city competition on environmental protection and conducting research on the causes of atmospheric air pollution. To carry out scientific work, young ecologists needed data on average temperatures, wind and precipitation in the capital. Specialists of RSE "Kazhydromet" came to the rescue. The little "scientists" were shown how the ground observation network of the Weather Service works, how precipitation is measured, wind strength and direction are determined, and told about the history of the oldest weather station. Its peculiarity is that it is located in a building that is an architectural monument, and was specially built back in 1916 for meteorological observations. For more than 150 years, Kazhydromet employees have been working within its walls, watching the weather.
