Central Asia discussed the risks of rapidly developing floods

On October 27, Astana hosted the Third Meeting of the Steering Committee on Rapidly Developing Floods in Central Asian Countries.
The meeting was opened by Dr. Khvirin Kim, Head of the Department of Hydrology and Water Resources of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and Director General of RSE "Kazhydromet" Danara Alimbayeva.
The event was organized by RSE "Kazhydromet" with the support of WMO with the participation of heads of National Hydrometeorological Services and representatives of Ministries of Emergency Situations of the Central Asian region.
The meeting discussed issues of a global system for assessing the risks of rapidly developing floods, considered the main concepts of combining the efforts of WMO and representatives of hydrometeorological services of the regions. The countries made presentations on individual problems in the region and presented an analysis of their work.
