On December 2, 2022, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, within the framework of the UNDP regional project "Climate Change and Sustainability in Central Asia" and with the support of the German Society for International Cooperation, a conference "Central Asian High-level Dialogue on Climate Change and Sustainability" was held.
Representatives of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan took part in the work. The event is aimed at building a comprehensive dialogue and calls on the Central Asian States to work together to achieve a reasonable balance between mitigation and adaptation to climate change on the path to green growth. The Kazakh delegation was headed by Mereke Pshembayev, Vice Minister for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Director General of the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan Danara Alimbayeva made a report on the importance of hydrometeorological information for the successful solution of most urgent problems in the field of climate change resistance facing the world community. RSE "Kazhydromet" is the CARFFGS Coordination Center for Central Asian countries. At the end of the report, D.Alimbayeva wished everyone successful and constructive work, expressed confidence that the results of the conference would be useful not only to the governments of Central Asia, but also to the world community for making informed decisions on climate change and adaptation to them.
