In the second decade of January in the south and south-east of the republic in the areas of cultivation of winter grain crops, the temperature background was below normal by 8 ... 15 ° C, precipitation fell below normal.
Lowering the air temperature at night in the Almaty region to minus 37 ° C, in the Zhambyl and Turkestan regions to minus 30 ° C, with uneven distribution of snow cover, can lead to freezing of winter crops.
The snow height in the areas of winter wheat cultivation in the Almaty region reached up to 3-21 cm, in the Turkestan region up to 8-19 cm, and in the Zhambyl region up to 3-13 cm, which, with increased wind, can strip the soil of snow cover.
In the West Kazakhstan region, snow cover (8 cm) remains in the areas of winter grain crops cultivation, which has a protective effect on plants with its uniform distribution on the soil surface, but a low temperature on the soil surface (minus 28 ...30 ° C) can lead to freezing.
The minimum soil temperature at the depth of the tillering node (3 cm) of winter wheat in the Turkestan region ranged from 0 ° C to minus 1 ° C and in the Almaty region was about minus 5 ° C.
In the past decade, cattle grazing was carried out almost everywhere. In Aitekebiysky and Kobdinsky districts of Aktobe region, in Zhanybeksky district of West Kazakhstan region, in Shetsky district of Karaganda region and in Arkalyksky district of Kostanay region, animals were transferred to stable keeping.
Pastures are weakly and moderately grazed. Heavily grazed pasture lands were observed in the Irgiz district of Aktobe region (Nura station) and in the Karatal district of Zhetysu region (Akzhar station).
Throughout the territory of pasture animal husbandry, mainly the wet and frozen state of the sod was noted.
