From February 27 to March 4, 2023, within the framework of the Climate–optimized agriculture project - JSB, a training tour organized by the United Nations Development Program took place in Japan.
The project is aimed at supporting agricultural small and medium-sized enterprises (farmers) and local communities in the implementation of low-carbon and resource-saving solutions and technologies, as well as strengthening the expert and technical capacity of relevant structures to respond to droughts.
The Kazakhstan National Hydrometeorological Service got acquainted with the work of colleagues from the Japan Meteorological Agency and modern tools in the field of forecasting, including signs of the onset of drought using various models. Kazhydromet employees also assessed the possibilities of using Japanese scientific research in the field of satellite data, drought modeling and environmental monitoring.
Such events allow us to gain the experience of advanced countries and open up new areas of development in the field of monitoring and forecasting.
