On March 15, a one–day seminar–meeting was held in Astana as part of the implementation of measures to develop a sensitivity map of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MENR) with the expert support of OSPRI – Regional Initiative to Ensure Preparedness for the Elimination of Emergency Oil Spills (Caspian Sea - Black Sea - Central Eurasia).
International consultant Lindsay Page-Jones, who participated in the development of sensitivity maps in a number of countries with the participation of the oil industry and government agencies, was invited to the seminar-meeting.
The purpose of the event is to develop further measures to develop a sensitivity map for the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea (KSKM).
The objectives of the training course are the principles of sensitivity map development, the main stages and examples of maps, the exchange of information about the current stage of the sensitivity map development project in the Republic of Kazakhstan, discussion and development of proposals for further sensitivity map development and process management, as well as identification of possible participants in the formation of maps.
