On March 14-15, at the headquarters of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in Geneva, Switzerland, a hybrid format seminar was held for the member countries of the Regional Association VI (RA VI). The event was attended by hydrometeorological services of countries that expressed a desire to act as Regional Centers for the WMO Integrated Global Observing Network (WIGOS): Kazakhstan, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey.

The formation of the IGSNV regional Centers (RCI) is defined as one of the six main priority areas of IGSNV activity for 2020-2024. The RCIS play a crucial role in promoting the implementation of the WMO IGOS at the national as well as at the regional level, providing coordination and support to the WMO member countries. The mandatory functions of the RCI are defined as metadata management and data quality monitoring.
During the working meeting, the RCI candidate countries were familiarized with the functions and tools of the WIGOS and the RCI.
The concept of the IGSNV Regional Center (RCI) for the Regional Association VI and the Draft RCI Implementation Plan for RA VI were also developed.
At the end of the meeting, the participants noted that the meeting was held in the spirit of high trust and mutual understanding.
