Brief agrometeorological review for the 1st decade of April 2023

In the south and south-east of the republic, in the areas of winter grain crops cultivation, there was an increase in air temperature during the daytime, which was favorable for the resumption of vegetation, growth and development of winter crops.
At the observed sites in Almaty, Zhetysu, Zhambyl and Turkestan regions, the condition of winter wheat is excellent and good, the phase of development of the "3rd leaf" is "the appearance of the lower stem node".
At observation sites in the south of the country, sowing of spring barley continues, after preliminary tillage, the quality of sowing and the condition of the plants is good. The early sowing of spring barley in Zhambyl and Almaty regions marks the phase of development of "germination of grain" - "shoots", in Turkestan region "formation of nodular roots" and "tillering".
In the Turkestan region, in the vicinity of the Oshakty agropost, the sowing of corn for grain has been completed, the phase of development "germination of grain" - "shoots". The condition of the plants is good.
In the vicinity of the Kyzyltu agropost of the Aksu district of the Zhetysu region, after preparing the soil, they started sowing sugar beet, the quality of field work is good.
In the observed areas in orchards, fruit crops (apple, pear, raspberry) in the southern regions have a phase of development "bud swelling" – "appearance of inflorescences", as well as cherry phase "flowering". The condition of fruit crops is everywhere good.
In the southern regions of the country, there was an active vegetation of alfalfa and clover grasses. The condition of alfalfa grasses is mostly good, in the vicinity of Bakanas stations of Almaty region and Ushtobe of Zhetysu region is satisfactory.
The weather in the past decade has favored cattle grazing everywhere. Feeding of livestock continues in Mangistau district of Mangistau region and Kyzylkoginsky district of Atyrau region.
In the Suzak district of Turkestan region and Ulytau district of Ulytau region, the transportation of animals to summer pastures has begun.
Pastures were poorly and moderately grazed. The condition of the sod is mostly dry, sometimes damp.
The condition of grass on pastures is generally good and satisfactory. The good condition of the herbage is noted in the Balkhash district of the Almaty region and the poor condition in the Shetsky district of the Karaganda region.
